Heat and the Homeless

HELP IS NEEDED TO BEAT THE SUMMER HEAT

With an average high of 95 degrees, Waterfront Rescue Mission is working to make sure that the homeless are safe.

August 10, 2011 The record highs are affecting people across the country and the homeless know this all too well. For many, the sweltering forecasts are just an inconvenience, but for someone without shelter this can be a dangerous situation. Heat exhaustion, sun burns, and mosquitoes are some of the common threats that our homeless neighbors endure on a daily basis. In Pensacola, Waterfront Rescue Mission is working on building a new facility that will be a refuge from the scorching temperatures. The new shelter will have a Day Resource Center, a facility that will provide computers, showers, a rotation of service providers and much more. This will be a location that the homeless and those in need can come to during the day to have a safe place to improve upon their circumstances.

Waterfront Rescue Mission needs your help now to supply for the needs of those living in the constant heat this summer. To help them protect themselves from the elements the following items are needed.
