Waterfront Rescue Mission Goes Green to Help the Homeless

Mobile, AL May 12, 2011- Waterfront Rescue Mission opened a new Recycling & Donation Center (RDC) in Mobile, AL on April 15, 2011. This new Recycling & Donation Center is now accepting a variety of donated items from the community including clothing, furniture, aluminum siding, automotive batteries, electronic equipment and household wares. Every effort is made to put these donations to their best possible use by distributing a huge assortment of gently-used items to the Mission's Bargain Centers located throughout the Gulf Coast of Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

These donations are not only being recycled and saving space in landfills, but the profits from these recycled items help fund the Mission's homelessness and addiction recovery programs.

-Aluminum Cans, Cast and Siding

-Defective Christmas Lights

-Plastic Grocery and Trash Bags (In Clean/Dry Condition)

-Copper Wiring

-Electric Motors

-Automotive Batteries

-Cardboard (In Clean and Dry Condition)

-Small Quantities of Scrap Metal

-Electronic Equipment (Computers, Keyboards, etc.)

-Household Wares (Microwaves, Toasters, etc.)

-Recyclable Paper (Books, Magazines, Newspaper, etc.)

-Clothing

-Furniture

By donating to the Waterfront Rescue Mission shelters and Bargain Centers unwanted items are given a second life to be used and enjoyed by another person.
