The Mission prepares to feed thousands along the Gulf Coast at their annual Thanksgiving Banquet.
October 25, 2010 - The Waterfront Rescue Mission is known for its annual Thanksgiving Banquet because of the thousands of meals served at all three of their Mission shelter locations. This year will be no different. On Thanksgiving Day, the Waterfront Rescue Mission will continue the tradition of opening its doors to the homeless and hungry, men, women and children of the Gulf Coast. The Mission staff is gearing up to prepare, serve and distribute up to 5,900 meals on Thanksgiving Day alone!
The Waterfront Rescue Mission is requesting the help of the community for this great event. There are numerous ways that individuals, groups, or businesses can help:
-Donate items for the Holiday Shop/ Donation Giveaway Program- coats, jeans, gloves, scarves, hats, blankets, backpacks, socks, sleeping bags, underwear, personal hygiene items, etc.
-Volunteer to deliver or serve meals on Thanksgiving Day. If you would like to volunteer, please call (888) 853-8655 beginning November 1.
-Make a financial donation- $2.23 provides 1 meal, $11.15 provides 5 mealsand $22.30 provides 10 meals. Click here to donate today!
All item donations can be delivered to any of their three Mission locations:
-Fort Walton Beach Mission: 112 Hollywood Blvd. SE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida
-Pensacola Men's Mission: 16 West Main Street, Pensacola, Florida
-Mobile Mission: 206 State Street, Mobile, Alabama
The Banquet will be held on Thanksgiving Day and will include music and a short program beginning at 11 a.m. and a traditional Thanksgiving meal being served at noon. A Holiday Shop will be set up to distribute clothing and toiletry items to those in need.
If you or someone you know are unable to attend the banquet and cannot afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal, Mission volunteers can deliver one to you. Please call (888) 853-8655 beginning November 1 to take part in this delivery service. No more than 12 meals can be ordered from one household.
