There are many creative
ways your office, church or school can provide food and other necessities
for the hurting and homeless. Here are some examples:
Theme Food Drives:
Think Italian and collect bulk-sized pasta and tomato sauce. From
the food you collect, a great Italian meal could be served at one
of our shelters. You could even provide the ingredients and the
instructions for a simple recipe to be prepared by the Mission staff
and volunteers. Bring these items to your local rescue mission and
sense the joy that comes from knowing that the homeless will be
served a delicious meal. Feel free to be creative in choosing a
theme!
Cleaning Products Drives:
Help us keep the Missions in tip-top shape. Ask your group to donate
Lysol, Glass Cleaner, Shower and Bath Cleaner, Laundry Detergent,
Sponges, Cleaning rags, etc.
Toiletry Totes Drives:
Put together small toiletry bags for those in need. Good hygiene
improves self-esteem and gives hope to someone who has been living
on the streets. Collect zip-lock bags of new toiletries that include
shampoo, soap, deodorant, disposable razors, toothpaste, a toothbrush
and hand lotion. The bags can be filled with either full-size or
travel-size toiletries. These toiletry totes are needed for men
and women. |
