Men's Shelters

The Waterfront Rescue Mission has been a beacon of hope for thousands of hungry and homeless men in our region since 1949. Each night up to 150 homeless, dejected men turn to the Mission. For many who are at the end of their rope, the Mission has been a knot they can hold on to. The Waterfront Rescue Mission is determined to provide compassionate help, individual attention, a plan for success, and most of all, knowledge about the Gospel. The Mission's chaplains and volunteers provide the following rescue services:

-Safe Shelter
-Hot Breakfasts & Dinners

-Clean Clothes
-Showers
-Personal Necessities
-Chapel Services
-Spiritual Counseling

Each Mission also offers a nine month, Christ-centered substance abuse Recovery Program for men. These men live in a dormitory setting at the Mission and attend daily Bible studies, chapel services, chemical dependency classes, and Biblical Christian counseling sessions. The program requires each man to work a job assignment at the Mission every day - not for pay, but for the benefit of their recovery. The first three months of the nine month program are completed at one of the Missions. Then, if the expected progress is being made, the Mission chaplains will recommend that the man transfer to New Hope Home in Gulf Breeze, Florida for the next six months of the Program.

Pensacola Mission

Just steps from Pensacola Bay, the Waterfront Rescue Mission has served thousands of hungry and homeless men since August 1, 1949. The Mission meets the basic physical needs of the men who come off the streets for a place to sleep. A tasty meal, warm shower, clean change of clothes, and a caring counselor greet each newcomer. The Pensacola Men's Shelter served over 60,000 meals and provided over 22,000 nights of shelter in 2008 alone.

Mobile Mission

The Mobile Mission was founded in 1949 and merged with the Waterfront Rescue Mission in June 1989. Located in downtown Mobile, the Mission meets the needs of hundreds of hungry and homeless men every year. Last year more than 53,000 meals were served, over 19,000 nights of shelter were provided, and thousands of articles of clothing were distributed to those in need.

Fort Walton Beach Mission

Click here to see Northwest Florida Daily News document how the Waterfront Rescue Mission helps those in need in Fort Walton Beach.

In January 1985, the Waterfront Rescue Mission opened the Fort Walton Beach Mission, and like the original Pensacola Mission, the Fort Walton Beach Mission serves as a first-response facility for the broken and addicted. In 2008, the Fort Walton Beach Mission served more than 51,000 meals and provided over 14,000 nights of shelter.

The Fort Walton Beach Mission opens its door wide daily to feed those in need at lunchtime and for the evening meal. This distinctive service unveils unique opportunities to demonstrate God's love.

In recent months, the Fort Walton Beach Mission has expanded its accommodations to shelter transient women and children. At this time, the Mission can comfortably shelter 12 women and children each night. With the addition of a full-time social worker, the maximum length of stay for women at the Mission has increased to four weeks. During this time, the Mission's staff assist the women in obtaining jobs and saving money in order to move into their own apartment or home. The women a the Fort Walton Beach Mission now have their own dormitory in which to take pride in, with plans for further growth and restructuring in the near future.
