“Therefore, if anyone
is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed
away; behold, all things have become new” 2nd
Corinthians 5: 17 (NKJV)
The Waterfront Rescue Mission recognizes that
there are many new challenges after rehabilitation in addition
to remaining sober. Consequently, the purpose of the Women’s
Career Development Program (CDP) is to continue .
preparing the female residents in meeting these challenges
by providing training, support, and support systems necessary
as they are in the process of transforming into women of Godly
character and integrity
The Women’s CDP provides women assistance directed toward
successfully transitioning back into their community. CDP follows
completion of the Waterfront Rescue Mission’s Women’s
primary recovery program, serving as a buffer between the primary
recovery and the antagonistic ‘front line’ experience
faced in society.
CDP residents live in a quiet residential setting where Christ-centered
staff provides continued encouragement and support. Additionally,
residents are provided with support services, career assessment,
career or vocational training, as well as local community and church
involvement opportunities. The CDP actively promotes accountability
by utilizing leadership of their local church, as well as participating
in small groups to enhance and mature their spiritual growth.
Empirical studies and research confirm the success rate for individuals
graduating from a treatment program around the United States is
about 10%. Simply stated, one out of every ten clients will remain
‘clean and sober’ one year after treatment. The same
studies show that the more treatment an individual receives, the
greater the potential for successful recovery. Statistically speaking,
the chances for successful recovery will increase dramatically by
the client’s participation in the Career Development Program.
Although CDP isn’t the only alternative, the key to successful
recovery is finding and participating in some form of aftercare.
Waterfront Rescue Mission strongly recommends that any person who
is serious about their sustained recovery will continue to participate
in some form of aftercare. The Career Development Program provides
a form of aftercare with grace, truth, and time. |
